About Us

It is my pleasure to welcome you to Yvonne Harmon Elementary School. I am honored to be the principal of this school and the teachers and staff join me in saying we are happy to have you as part of our school family. If you are new to the Harmon family, you have just entered into an exceptional school. Harmon is a close-knit educational community that promotes the overall academic and social development of all students in a safe and nurturing environment.
We strive to create an environment that fosters learning, builds confidence, diversity, social skills and supports children’s individual needs. We want children who attend our program to have a place where they feel safe and secure. We view children as unique individuals and want to empower them by offering opportunities where they can make decisions and become increasingly independent.

Harmon Elementary School has 9 Special Day Classes and is designated as early childhood through sixth grade serving students in Preschool and Transitional Kindergarten through Sixth grade. Mainstream and Inclusion opportunities are provided in our 3 State Preschool programs and the Kendall Kindergarten class. In partnership with our children, families, teachers, community, and other professionals, Harmon School provides quality instruction. We strive to create a positive school climate in which all children and adults feel welcome, respected, and valued.

Harmon school is dedicated to school improvement by implementing Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) and Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) principles. Support staff is available in the areas of: Special Education, Speech, Nursing, Occupational Therapy, Specialized Vision and Orthopedic Impairment Services. The building includes a Warm Therapy Pool, Indoor Playground and a Sensory Room to encourage and stimulate students, academically and physically.

We view our parents/guardians as equal partners in providing our children with meaningful educational experience and we encourage you to become active participants in your student’s learning. We welcome your participation and support during the school year and look forward to celebrating with you the achievements of our students. Please feel free to contact me at any time if you have a suggestion, concern, or just a "good story" to share! I look forward to working with you and your students!
